Warm Audio WA 84 Review
Built as a faithful recreation of the legendary 84-style small-diaphragm condenser, the WA-84 condenser microphone combines vintage inspiration with modern reliability. It features a fully discrete Class A circuit, a custom USA-made CineMag transformer, and a carefully reproduced KK84-style capsule.
Unlike many modern transformerless designs, this microphone keeps the rich mids and tight low end that made the originals famous. A subtle dip around 8 to 10 kHz smooths harsh highs without losing sparkle. The switchable -10 dB pad gives you extra headroom for loud sources like snare drums and toms. Powered by standard 48V phantom power, each mic is hand-tested to ensure consistent, studio-ready performance.
A True Legendary Neumann KM 84 Clone
The Warm Audio WA 84 Microphone is a faithful recreation of the iconic Neumann KM 84, one of the most respected small-diaphragm condenser microphones ever made. The original became a studio staple thanks to its smooth top end, natural detail, and balanced low end. Engineers loved how it captured acoustic instruments and drum overheads without sounding harsh or thin.
Warm Audio carefully studied vintage units to recreate the key components and signal path that gave the Neumann KM-84 its signature sound. The result is a microphone that delivers the warmth, clarity, and musical response of the original, paired with modern reliability and accessible pricing.
